Meet Anissa Hedges owner of Bottles & Ice, Bar Service. Bottles & Ice, Bar Service offers premier bartending services for events such as weddings, birthday parties, corporate gatherings and more! Anissa is a spunky soul, with FUN written all over her. Her goal is to create an amazing and enjoyable experience for her clients, while keeping the fun, and the drinks flowing! After years in the restaurant bartending scene, she stepped out to create her own business, thus Bottles & Ice was born. Keep reading to learn more about this amazing artist.

How did you get started doing what you do?

The day I turned 21 (ahem, almost 14 years ago), my boss, at the time, said, "Get behind the bar! It's time to learn how to bartend." She showed me the ropes, and I never looked back. Fast forward to 2011, I bartended my cousin's wedding at Spanish Oaks Ranch and thought "This would be fun!" I shot down the idea of starting a private bartending company because some people in my life weren't very supportive to the idea of starting my own business.  Then, in 2015, I bartended another cousin's wedding at Spreafico Farms, and knew at that point I wanted to try out the business. I got my business license a week later, and thus, Bottles & Ice, Bar Service was born!

Who or what continues to inspires you?

My children. I want them to grow up knowing that their mother worked hard to succeed. I've had to work for everything I have. I don't have wealthy parents. I didn't marry a millionaire. My husband and I work, day in and day out, for things wonderful things we have. And I want my children to look back on their childhood and feel proud that their mother did everything she could to give them a good life!

What makes your business unique?

I think what makes us unique is our willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done. All bartenders can make drinks, although we make very tasty ones, but one thing you'll never hear us say is "That's not my job".  At the end of the day, it's the client that matters!

What's your business philosophy?

Our philosophy is simple. Be on time, be ready to work, be clean, be organized, but have fun! Because if you can't have fun at work, then what's the point!

Favorite part of a wedding?

The father daughter dance. I didn't get mine when I got married, so it holds a special place in my heart! Oh, and the dessert bar! 

Why do you do what you do?

Because it makes me feel that I have a purpose. Anyone can go get a job at a bar or restaurant, but when a couple comes up to you at the end of the night, gives you a big hug, and says thank you, that makes it all worth it!

How would you describe your ideal couple?

Have I mentioned the word FUN? Our ideal couple is the one that starts their email by saying, "We just want our family and friends to have fun!" Well, then look no further! Young, old, and everything in between, doesn't matter to us. You want a bartender that is going to be caught dancing behind the bar to 50 Cent? Then, I'm your gal!

What question do you always ask the Bride & Groom?

Every client is different, so I don't necessarily have that one go-to question. I always ask what their favorite cocktail is.....

What would you say is your greatest accomplishment?

My children!

What do you enjoy doing on your day off?

Sleeping and drinking wine.....I am a bartender after all! 

Tell us about your first job?

My very first job was the cashier at a lumber company in Atascadero!

OK, tell us your Nickname(s)?

Tweety Bird....my uncle gave me this name when I was a baby because I had a giant head and a little bit of hair. Nissy, Niss, Nissa. Mom, mama, mommy.

Tell us one thing few people know about you?

I'm a pretty open book. I don't really have a filter, nor is there any subject that I won't talk about. But, if I had to say one thing, I'd say I'm really actually shy. I get nervous in new situations and a little insecure.  

Wedding trend that you're loving right now?

I don't have just one. I'd say the donut trend....cause who doesn't like donuts!

Wedding trend that will hopefully be out next year?

The moscow mule trend.....get a new cocktail!

What do you miss most about being a kid?

Having my mom and dad together.  

What's in the top 5 of your bucket list?

Own a home. Get a real office for my business, not my home office. Take my kids to Disneyland. Travel to Italy. See New York at Christmas time.

Where do you see yourself (or business) in the near future?

Hopefully with an official office space!
