Take a professional graphic designer with an eye for unique creative detail and a fun-loving blue collar husband and you will get the most charming DIY wedding you've ever seen. Carson and Joel got married on a gorgeous day in Mid-May at Joel's family's avocado farm in Morro Bay. The sun was shining, the horses were paid actors, the pizza truck was a moment and the checkered dance floor made for the best night ever. I had the pleasure of interviewing the gorgeous bride, Carson, about the special day.

The Love Story
"Our families became close friends over 15 years ago because Joel & my brother were on the same soccer team. I messaged Joel on Instagram after a decade of not seeing him & asked to get a drink together. We started dating & were inseparable. After six months, we moved in together & got a puppy. After four years, Joel got down on one knee on the bluffs in Shell Beach in front of my closest friends. I was beyond shocked & had no idea at all. I truly didn't even know Joel had bought a ring! Of course it was the easiest yes!"
The Inspiration
"We got married at Joel's family's avocado farm in Morro Bay, so I wanted it to feel like a backyard wedding but slightly elevated!"
Color Palette
"Mostly white, cream, & olive green. Lots of white florals, bridesmaids in cream dresses, & green accents (my shoes, napkins, seating chart)."

The Details
"Our pizza truck, Lucca Truck, was a hit! We played into the backyard wedding & love pizza. But they have a gorgeous truck they serve wood-fire pizzas out of so it felt elevated & fun. Since I'm a graphic designer, I had a lot of fun with signage & our newspaper we passed out to guests."
Memorable Moment
"We did private vows the morning of our wedding in our pjs in the hotel room. We had almost 200 people at our wedding & we really wanted an intimate moment for our vows just the two of us. That was really special to hear from each other without the pressure of so many people listening & to see each other before the whole day got started. We love to have a good time & we spent a lot of time adding fun early 2000s songs on a playlist. We knew we wanted our dance floor to be packed the whole night & our guests did not disappoint! It was so much fun dancing with all our loved ones all night."

Knowing what you know now... what advice would you have for other brides planing their wedding?
"Just focus on what you truly want & don't let others opinions or trends affect you. Soak it all in & dance the night away."
