Hayley and Evan had a charming and picturesque vineyard wedding in Paso Robles. Their wedding planner Rose To The Occasion Events handled every detail perfectly, and San Luis Obispo wedding photographer Oh Lovely Photography was there to capture every special moment. I had the pleasure of interviewing the bride about the day.

Their Love Story

"We met during college at a mutual friends party but actually went to the same high school, we were just a few years apart. He asked me on a date the next week and we have been together ever since. I was planning Evan's 30th birthday party with some friends up in Los Olivos for a wine tasting weekend getaway. Little did I know, he drove up the week prior to scout the best spot to pop the question. He even had my best friends and family drive out to witness the special moment. Because we rented a house for his birthday, we have an impromptu engagement party with all of our closest people. It was a total surprise and such a special memory. We just celebrated 9 years together!"

The Inspiration

"We love wine tasting and it felt fitting to get married at a winery since that's where our proposal took place. We loved the idea of an intimate setting outside for the ceremony and the lit barrel room to dance the night away. We wanted all of the rustic and romantic feels with warm lighting and soft colors to enhance the already beautiful surroundings."

Color Palette

"We wanted a soft color palette that didn't take away from the winery views. We went with soft greens and oranges, whites & peach tones."

The Details

"When Ev and I rode back up to the reception in a vintage car and got to have a special "we did it" moment just us before walking in to all of our family and friends. I loved having a sweetheart table to spend a little one on one time with each other, while still enjoying our guests."

Memorable Moments

"The surreal moment of arriving to the ceremony and walking down the aisle with my parents at my side and seeing Ev for the first time. THE SPEECHES - they were real tear jerkers, everyone did such an amazing job making us feel so loved & supported."

Knowing what you know now... what advice would you have for other brides planning their wedding?

"Amidst all of the planning chaos, at the end of the day the wedding is about celebrating the love you have for each other. It won't matter if everything went perfectly or if your vision was executed perfectly, all that will matter is that you got to marry your person. Also, take a moment for yourselves to look around and enjoy the hard work by your vendors. The day will go by so fast, remember to take small moments for yourself and with your partner to enjoy and relish in the day!"

What was the most challenging part about planning your wedding?

"Planning a destination wedding is a challenge when meeting with vendors. Lots of communication is key."
