If your dream wedding is a large property with rolling hills, ocean views behind the ceremony and ending the celebration in a rustic countryside barn surrounded by pine and eucalyptus trees, then the Cayucos wedding venue Swallow Creek Ranch is for you. Jess and Juan got married on top of a majestic mountaintop that looked out at the Cayucos ocean. Just when you thought the ceremony couldn't be more beautiful, San Luis Obispo florist Nicole Joy Creative designed a stunning arch covered in white flowers. Every detail complimented the venue, including the gorgeous rentals provided by San Luis Obispo rental companies Avenue Twelve, SLO Party Rentals and All About Events. The talented San Luis Obispo photographer Cole Garrett Photography captured every moment.

Their Love Story

"We met at a bar on Halloween in 2013 during our last year in college in San Luis Obispo, California. I had my face painted as part of my costume so Juan had no idea what I looked like when he approached. Juan got my number and we've been together ever since. After graduating, we moved to Seattle where we now live with our dog. Juan proposed a few days before our 7th anniversary in one of our favorite Seattle parks. This past October, a few weeks before our 9th anniversary, we got married on a beautiful farm in Cayucos, California which is just a few towns away from where we met."

Inspiration

"We were inspired by our amazing venue and went with a modern, boho style."

Color Palette

"Rust was our main color with accents of neutrals."

The Details

"We were most excited about the ceremony view which overlooked the ocean and the food of course!"

Memorable Moments

"We wrote our own vows and it was so special to share them with each other in front of our closest friends and family. We read them again the next night over dinner and wine. Another favorite moment was our sunset photos. It was a great way to escape and spend a few minutes with just us. Super romantic!"

Knowing what you know now... what advice would you have for other brides planing their wedding?

"It's easy to get overwhelmed - plan your big day around what you two care most about, not what others expect. Another tip - do first look photos before the ceremony. It frees up a lot of time so you two can actually enjoy cocktail hour!"

What was the most challenging part about planning your wedding?

"We live out of state, which added a little complexity to logistics. We had to fly in to look at venues and tasting appointments. Having a planner & day of coordinator helped SO much!"
