After years of working in the wedding industry, I’ve learned that one of the most common concerns brides have is surprisingly simple—feeling like they didn’t get enough time with their spouse on their wedding day. It sounds crazy at first, right? But when you think about it, the day you’ve spent months (or even years) planning often ends up feeling more like a big family reunion, a college get-together, or just an incredible party with all your favorite people in one room. And while that’s undeniably special, it can sometimes pull focus from what truly matters most—celebrating your love and soaking in those once-in-a-lifetime moments with your partner.

Keep scrolling to hear a few things I've picked up from brides that have made it a mission to prioritize personal time with their spouse on their wedding day and take moments to stay present.

Scheduling Moments of Awareness

This sounds simple but it can be something easily forgotten in the chaos of the day. Making sure special moments of awareness are scheduled into the day will ensure these peaceful moments with your partner to stay present. My sister and her husband did this, and she tells me how they were her favorite moments of the day because she could take a step back and say "Woah, we're married! This is our wedding. This is amazing." Tell your coordinator to keep this in mind so he/she can help make it happen!

Private Dance or Dinner

In the past few years couples have been creating special intimate moments for themselves by taking the time to have a private first dance or a private first dinner. It's like your first date as a married couple, without the hustle and bustle of your guests surrounding you and witnessing it.

Candid Sunset Photoshoot

It's normal to go off into the sunset for a quick couple's photoshoot, but some have made it an intimate experience out of this by telling their photographer they want candid shots of them rather than making it a pose moment. This allows the couple to take time to be with themselves and reminisce about the day so far while the photographer captures the special moment from afar.
