As if the the vintage and iconic Madonna Inn isn't fabulous all by itself, Brittany and Cristina's lavish wedding was both gorgeous and personable. Find colorful inspiration in this wedding with its memorable Met Gala theme and fun personal touches. The lovely San Luis Obispo wedding photographer LoveLace Photography captured each moment, and I had the pleasure of interviewing the bride Brittany about the special day.

Their Love Story

"We both had dated around so much in our 20s that when we met, we instantly knew our connection was not only special, but that we could grow together. We had been together for a little over two years when Cristina proposed, but it was a topic we talked about at great length so it wasn't a surprise. And her hands were shaking the entire drive to the hotel in Palm Springs. It was an easy tell. Then Britt proposed a few weeks later when Cristina's siblings were in town."

The Inspiration

"Because queer couples are often very much on the outside of traditional wedding culture, we knew that we wanted our wedding to just feel like *us*. The Madonna Inn was the most perfect place - it's fun and doesn't take itself too seriously. Our dress code was funky formal and we tried to incorporate the colorful backdrop of The Madonna Inn as much as we could."

Color Palette

"Reds and pinks."

The Details

"We hired a tattoo artist to build a custom flash tattoo sheet incorporating themes of our relationship, and as a party favor to our guests, they got free tattoos!"

Memorable Moments

"Both of our vows took the other one by surprise (and apparently our guests). There wasn't a dry eye in the house."

Knowing what you know now... what advice would you have for other brides planning their wedding?

"This day is for you and your partner, so don't get caught up in all the pressure of sticking to traditions."

What was the most challenging part about planning your wedding?

"Watching those costs pile up!"
